First Lego League Explorers competition
Over the past few months Mrs. Boyle's Primary Four girls have been taking part in the "First Lego League Explore Competition." This is a STEAM (science, technology, engineering arts and maths) project run by the Institute of Engineering and Technology, and W5. The girls were challenged to learn all about sources of renewable energy. We had to build working models of energy sources from Lego and then motorise them using the Lego WEDO app. Using the Lego WEDO we were able to write code and programme the models to move, change colour and make sounds etc.
Today we went to W5 to present our work and were judged by industry professionals. The girls did a fabulous job and answered all the questions they were asked and presented their work so confidently. Each girl was awarded a medal and the team won the most promising coding award because their coding showed “complexity and detail.”
They are our engineers of the future, well done girls!
