Irish News, Week Six: Social Media

This week the Irish News programme explored how social media plays an increasingly central role in many people’s daily lives. This generated a very mature discussion about the pros and cons of social media, as well as considering reputable sources of news in 2024.

The girls also explored the structure of news articles, recognising that they are written in the style of an inverted pyramid, with a lead, body and tail.

This lesson will greatly support the girls’ written work next week, as they research, plan and complete a discursive piece of writing based on the issue of mobile phone ownership.
