Primary 5 spent the morning at Ballysillan Park with Siobhan from Ulster Wildlife. Today we were looking at worms and soil. Some of the girls really enjoyed getting their hands dirty. We had to do a worm survey - looking through the soil and counting the worms. Then we tried to encourage the worms to come to the surface by soaking the soil with water which had mustard powder in it. This doesn't hurt the worms. Finally we had to look at the type of soil. An enjoyable morning was had by all, even those who didn't want to get their hands dirty.
