Primary 2 Talk for Writing

In Holy Cross Girls’ we are very proud to use the Talk for Writing Programme. 

The programme aims to improve children’s writing skills by moving from imitating what they have read to innovating familiar stories to becoming independent writers. 

In the Foundation Stage this means that our children use story maps to learn a story off by heart. In Primary 2 we have been reading ‘The Elephant and the Bad Baby’. 

We learnt the story of by heart with the help of story map and then we innovated the story by changing some of things in the story to create a completely new story.  Listen out for some familiar places and names from Ardoyne.
