Primary One are Scientists!
14th Jan 2025
As part of our winter theme, the girls were so excited to experiment with water in order to find the best place to make ice. To make it a fair test they carefully measured a cupful of water into each container. Then one was placed in the fridge, one in the freezer, another was placed outside (during the cold spell) and the final dish was left in our lovely warm classroom. We got a big surprise the next day when we checked the water outside. It was still water, even though lots of containers in the playground were filled with ice. Like true scientists the primary One girls explored reasons why this might have happened and decided that their location was a sheltered spot. We chatted about how some animals look for sheltered places to help keep them warm in cold weather. The girls came to the conclusion that a freezer is the best place to make ice.
